Alexandra Main

Alexandra is a Great Lakes denizen having lived on the shores of Lakes Huron (MI), Erie (OH), Superior (MN), and Michigan (IL) at one time or another - on all but Ontario except on vacation.

A proud ensemble member, she began to trot on the boards with The Gift in the summer of 2002 and joined the ensemble in 2003. Her work with The Gift has ranged from Mary Tyrone in Long Day’s Journey Into Night to Vivian Bearing in Wit (Jeff Award Nomination-Equity Wing – Actress in a Principal Role) to Maud/Betty in Cloud 9. Other Gift productions include Absolute Hell, Northwest Highway, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, The Ruby Sunrise, The Clearing, and Blithe Spirit, among others.

Her directing credits include: Courting Vampires (Clockwise Theatre-Waukegan, IL); Talk Radio (Asst. Dir.) and 365 Plays/365 Days: Week 2 (The Gift Theatre); Barefoot in the Park (ArtCore of Casper, Wyoming); [box] (Mary-Arrchie Theatre) and a slew of staged readings.

She holds an MA in performance studies from Northwestern University. She studies with Mary Ann Thebus.  If she had it to do again, she’d study theoretical physics more, jitterbug as much as possible, and canoe the Boundary Waters forever. “Special thanks to MPT and all The Gifters, to Rita and Frank, to best friends, and always to David, my long-suffering husband and, coincidentally, technical director of The Gift.”

In Memoriam: to my confidant and champion, Lisabeth Rohlck, affectionately known as Elbee.
